ESTENOSE LOMBOSSACRA DEGENERATIVA EM CÃES. REVISÃO

Resumo

A estenose lombossacra degenerativa (ELD) em cães é similar à doença lombossacra degenerativa humana, visto que em ambas as espécies ocorrem déficits neurológicos, claudicação e dor lombar, em virtude da compressão da cauda equina devido à degeneração da ALS, herniação de disco intervertebral, alterações nas facetas articulares, espessamento do ligamento amarelo e instabilidade vertebral. Em humanos, as técnicas que promovem fusão intersomática lombar com uso de cages intervertebrais são as mais indicadas, por propiciar estabilização, descompressão e auxiliar na fusão do espaço intervertebral. Em cães, o tratamento é dividido em médico ou cirúrgico e a escolha depende da severidade e tipo de compressão entre outros fatores. Nesta espécie, entretanto, o tratamento apresenta limitações e controvérsias, pois nenhuma das técnicas disponíveis promove distração e fusão adequada das vértebras afetadas e não há evidências suficientes sobre a melhor técnica cirúrgica de tratamento da ELD. O objetivo desta revisão é abordar sobre a ELD em cães, diagnóstico e opções de tratamento.
