Abstract

This article presents the development, implementation, and evaluation of teaching-learning situations in Mathematics based on Mathematical Modeling and mediated by the GeoGebra software, focusing on the study of functions. The research, of a qualitative and interventionist nature, was conducted as action research in a first-semester class of the Industrial Automation Technician program at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará, Maracanaú campus. The methodology comprised a theoretical review, an initial diagnostic assessment with the students, the design of contextualized activities, classroom implementation, and data interpretation through Content Analysis. The results show that the intervention promoted high levels of engagement, motivation, and active participation among students, fostering meaningful learning of function concepts and stimulating investigative, critical, and collaborative skills. It was also observed that the use of GeoGebra enhanced dynamic visualization, experimentation, and the understanding of real phenomena. The findings indicate that the adopted approach has the potential to strengthen innovative and effective pedagogical practices aligned with the guidelines of the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base (BNCC).
