EFETIVIDADE DA OXIGENOTERAPIA HIPERBÁRICA NO MANEJO DE FERIDA MANDIBULAR COM EXPOSIÇÃO ÓSSEA EM CADELA SUBMETIDA À MANDIBULECTOMIA: RELATO DE CASO

A formação do tecido de granulação sobre superfície óssea exposta é classicamente considerada improvável na literatura ortopédica veterinária, especialmente quando há ausência de periósteo viável ou de cobertura de partes moles. Este trabalho relata o caso de uma cadela que foi submetida à nodulectomia com mandibulectomia, que evoluiu com exposição dos dois ramos da mandíbula, em seguida, houve formação de tecido de granulação e fechamento completo da ferida após sessões de oxigenoterapia hiperbárica (OHB). A OHB atua por meio da reversão da hipóxia, estímulo à angiogênese, proliferação de fibroblastos e controle infeccioso, podendo criar um ambiente permissivo para a granulação sobre o osso. O presente relato contribui para a literatura veterinária ao documentar uma exceção e ao propor mecanismos fisiológicos para explicá-la, sugerindo que a OHB pode ser considerada uma terapia adjuvante em feridas caninas com exposição óssea antes de procedimentos reconstrutivos complexos.
