Abstract

Abstract: This article presents processes of deprotection and protection of children, adolescents and their families, which were expanded during the social and health crisis caused by Covid-19 and in the post-pandemic context. Based on an overview of multiple pieces of evidence systematically collected in the literature, it is proposed to present a summary table of deprotection and protection strategies considering the construction of action with a view to current uncertainties and possibilities for intervention. This work selected 13 review articles, between 2020 and 2023, which focus on the main aspects that affect the deprotection of children/adolescents, affecting mental health and family and community coexistence, as well as intervention strategies to face these situations. Therefore, a discussion is proposed that can be used by professionals in the field of child and youth protection to plan actions in light of the consequences of the pandemic, political, social and economic crisis in recent times. The effects of deprotection linked to income insecurity, lack of access to services, reduced autonomy and mental health problems have increased relational vulnerabilities. Access to services and public policies, with support for families, is what the literature highlights to expand child and youth protection. Therefore, it is essential to identify demands for the search for protective actions.
